IMPACT MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY GRADING SYSTEM |
All students that are members of the Impact Martial Arts Academy are automaticly
entitled to comlete gradings within our club, although gradings are not a requirement
whilst in our club. Our syllabus has been written to ensure that all aspects of what we teach is covered, and to ensure only students that are ready to pass our gradings are put forward for gradings. Students can only apply for a grading once they have completed the required number of hours training and time period set in between each grading - and all students will be given a pre-grading prior to their actuall grading to ensure that they are ready to complete their official grading - we believe that is a fair way of ensuring that only students who are ready to take a grading - are put forward, This does not mean in any way shape or form that the student will pass their grading on the day - it just means that we have the confidance that they will have a better chance of passing their grading, after all - what is the point of allowing them to take a grading - only just to fail them - it just wastes our time and theirs ( meant in the nicest possible way : ). Students are graded on various aspects of what we teach, including : Attitude towards others Basic fitness Syllabus knowledge Technique Power Control Ability Attendance The first 3 basic grades are white - red - yellow and are taken by 1 instructor, who will asses the students ability to peform the basic kicks - basic punches - combinations and will also include a basic fitness test - these are know and our BASIC grades. The second 3 grades are orange - green - purple and are taken by two instructors who will score the students independently - and then the scores will be combined and the average taken - in addition to the above tasks, the students will also have to complete slighty more technical kicks - takedowns - sparring - defence from knife attacks and throwing techniques - these are know as our INTERMEDIATE grades. The next 3 grades are blue - brown - black and are taken by three instructors again who will score the grading individually - the scores will combined and an average taken - again this will determine if the student passes their grade - we believe this is a fair way of doing our gradings because each technique is seen and assesed by three individual instructors - not just one person / instructor. in addition to the above two grades the students will also have to peform " real time " knife and self defence attacks - techniques with each of the instructors - all our throwing and takedown techniques - full contact sparring - all advanced kicking, punching, and combination techniques - all wrist, arm and leg locks and a written part of the grading - these are know as our ADVANCED grades. Like all martial arts we do not stop at black belt - all the instructors here still continue to train as hard as they did on the first day they came to our club, we meet on regular occasions to train and attend all possible seminars and couses - and like all students we are always looking towards our next goal - as we still have our short terms goals to achieve without loosing sight of our long term objectives. We are proud here of our grading system and our grading syllabus at the Impact Martial Arts Academy - because we know that once a student completes any of our gradings here, we know that they have completed a grading at the highest possible level, and they can be confidant that their grading has been recognised by the World Kickboxing Association. Last of all - all our students understand that our belt and ranking system is a very important part of what we do here, and the belts they receive are only as important as the student values the belt when it is around their waist - and we understand that the belt they have around their waist is a direct reflection of the instructor who gave them that belt. |
