Impact Martial Arts
Black Belt Training

Firstly let me thank you for showing an interest in joining our black belt training sessions, and we look forward to training with you in the future.

We have three senior instructors within the Impact Martial Arts team, plus several other black belts, and we are always looking for ways to make ourselves better martial artists and to continue our training programme. So we have decided to set up a training session where you can come along and train with no politics no hassle and no worries.

Myself, Wayne Timlin (5th degree black belt) Gary Davis and Kev Brown (4th degree black belts), all still attend regular training sessions within our own club and also attend classes at clubs of other instructors and other styles of martial arts. We found most of the instructors we work and train with all have the same problem, not enough training for themselves, so we have decided to set up training sessions for senior belts of any style of martial arts and from any martial arts organisation or background.

The sessions we are running will be headed by us here at Impact Martial Arts, but will be run by all people who attend the training sessions, the organising and arranging of venues will be done between myself and instructors who have training facilities available. We will try to vary the venue between each session so travelling times for everyone will be the same with training times to suit all.

At each session we hold, we have the opportunity to train with and learn from martial artists from many different styles - we already have instructors attending from Karate / Tae Kwon-do / Jiu-Jitsu / Kickboxing / Muay Thai and others who we hope will also come along, instructors who want to continue to develop their style and technique are more than welcome to attend these sessions.

The sessions will be run so that you will have the opportunity to look at other styles of martial arts and give them a try, work with people many belts higher and lower than yourself (and have a enjoyable time whilst doing so), you will also have an opportunity to seek advice from other instructors on your own style of martial arts. This may help you to improve your own teaching skills and assist with future gradings. You may even be able to receive advice with regard your own grade and possible advancement. The opportunities are endless.

The main reason of setting up the training sessions is for everyone to be able to learn from each other and to be able to continue with senior belt training. We do not want people who think that they have something to prove or have attitude or ego problems and we certainly do not want people there who think they are any better than the next person, so if this is you please do not bother coming along!

The cost of training for the day will be split between the number of people training - and no money will be made by anyone for these events. Typically these events have cost between £2.00 and £4.00 per person per 2-3 hour session, and there will be NO other costs involved for coming along and joining us in these training sessions.

Any kit that is needed for the sessions should be brought along by the instructors on the day of training - i.e. kick shields - punch pads - escrima sticks and anything else that you feel may be needed on the day - mats for groundwork exercises are normally available in most training facilities but please check with us if you are unsure of anything that you may require.

Although we have named the session "black belt training" this is not strictly the case, we want to try and ensure only senior level students attend these sessions and each instructor attending may bring along students he/she feels may benefit from these sessions, but please try and ensure that only reasonably experienced students attend (probably at least 18 months regular training) and unfortunately no under 16's will be allowed.

Normal training Gi's / uniforms / belts can be worn to the sessions - but are not essential, and people attending are more than welcome to wear whatever they feel comfortable training in.

As stated, we will vary the training location each time we train so if you have a place that would be suitable for us to hold a session then please let us know details, where it is, what facilities are available i.e. changing rooms / showers / vending machines, plus any information that you feel may be relevant.

If you would like to come along to our sessions please speak to Wayne, Kev or Gary (contact details are below). Alternatively you can look at our web site and find out details of the next session, but please contact us to let us know whether or not you are going to come along.
